History of the Hermosa Inn

With the stroke of his brush, LonMegargeeskillfully captured Arizona history, offering a glimpse of the days when cowboys roamed the vast Southwest desert. A jack of all trades,Megargeelived his colorful life to the fullest, working as a cowpuncher, bronco buster, fireman, poker dealer, home builder, exhibition roper and accomplished artist.

Dubbed the ZaneGreyof cowboy artists byArizona Highways Magazine,Megargeewas commissioned by Arizona’s first governor, George W. P. Hunt, to create several murals for the state capitol building, which remain to this day. His other famous works – many of which adorn the walls of the resort and restaurants – include Cowboy’s Dream and Last Drop from His Stetson.

His Casa Hermosa (handsome house), with its unmistakable charm and style, was influenced by Mexican and Spanish architecture, is now the site of the acclaimed restaurant, LON ’s at the Hermosa and its bar and casual dining counterpart LON’s Last Drop.

After selling the property to a couple who intended to use it as their private home in 1941, they soon discovered Lon’s late-night lifestyle when guests showed up hoping to stay the night. They suddenly found themselves in the guest ranch business and Casa Hermosa became The Hermosa Inn.

Over the years, and with the help of various owners, the property continued evolving to include a swimming pool,casitasand villas. In 1992, a restoration brought back its original beauty and repaired damage that was done during a fire in the late 1980’s.

A library, boardroom and underground wine cellar now also complement the original adobe structure that makes up the dining areas and bar, while the entire property is surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery Arizona has to offer.

The unsurpassed beauty and serenity of this desert oasis offers guests of The Hermosa Inn a romantic peek into the past and an experience not soon forgotten.

Venue Description

Guest Room Types:

RANCHO

Arizona ambiance and exceptional appointments make these comfortable 450 square foot accommodations a memorable experience. Most Ranchos include a charming beehive fireplace and wet bar. Ranchos are available with a king bed. Ranchos are part of the original Inn.

CASITA

Casitas are premier 600 square foot accommodations.  Most have vaulted ceilings, skylights and courtyard casitas have patios leading to a semi-private Jacuzzi.  Casitas are available with a king size bed. All Casitas have fireplaces and feature a walk-in shower.

DELUXE CASITA

Deluxe Casitas are premier 650 to 750 square foot one-bedroom accommodations. They feature vaulted ceilings and fireplaces, French doors leading to a private patio and dining tables. Deluxe Casitas are all available with king size beds. All Deluxe Casitas have fireplaces and feature a walk-in shower as well as a free standing pedestal bath tub.

GRAND CASITA

You will feel right at home in our largest and most luxurious 800 square foot two-room accommodations. Comfortable sofas and over-sized chairs create an inviting atmosphere in the front living area, with a separate bedroom. Each offers two private patios setting the mood for relaxation and comfort. Reserve an adjacent connecting Deluxe Casita with the Grand Casita to create a free-standing three-room residence. Grand Casitas are all available with king size beds. All Grand Casitas feature a walk-in shower as well as a free standing bath tub.

HACIENDA

Reserve a Deluxe Casita and an adjacent Casita to create a two-bedroom, two bathroom luxury suite accommodation.
